St Francis Biography
St Francis of Assisi was born in 1182. Francis was one of seven children to Pietro di Bernardone and his wife, Pica de Bourlemont. When Francis was born, Pietro was on business in France, so Pica (His Mother) had him baptized as Giovanni. When Pietro returned, he renamed his son Francesco which means the Frenchman which people believe was in honor of his company success and excitement for things that are French.
As Francis grew older, he was known for his partying and drinking. After fighting in a war between Assisi and Perugia, Francis was arrested for ransom. He spent nearly a whole year waiting for his father to bail him out. After he was released from prison, Francis was sick emotionally and physically. Then all of a sudden Francis heard the voice of Christ. The voice told Francis to repair the Christian Church and live a life full of poverty. Therefore, Francis left his carefree wealthy life and then he became a follower of the faith. His good reputation quickly spread all over the world. After a while in his new life, Francis saw a vision that left him with the marks of the stigmata of Christ. He was the first person to receive the holy wounds from Christ. Francesco died on the 3rd October 1226 in Assisi , Umbria, Papal States. He was later canonized on the 16th July 1228 by Pope Gregory IX. Saint Francis’s Feast day is October 4th.
What I have learned from St Francis of Assisi is about giving and being selfless and not to take. I have also learned from St Francis of Assisi that where there is hatred, sow love, where there is despair, sow joy, where there is war, sow peace, where there is doubt, sow faith and where there is injury, sow pardon. St Francis is an inspiration to me because as he was younger he lived a wealthy carefree life, but until he heard the calling of God telling him to live a simple life. He has inspired me to stand up to those who have a higher position in the world. He also inspired me to be grateful for the things I have.

We were learning about the Olympics.We had to choose a country that was participating in the Olympics, an athlete from the country of our decision, an NZ athlete, and an Olympic event. We also had to put all of this information into a newspaper. We had to name our Newspaper and put advertisements into our newspaper. I have learnt a lot of interesting Olympic Facts and also Colombian Facts.What I would do next would proof read my newspaper and edit my mistakes instead of my teacher. Protest writing about Oscar Romero
Romero.
He falls in agony as people run towards him. Shock takes over me. My stomach churns as I take a step on the altar and my heart starts beating fast as I look at the sight in front of me. Warm salty tears pour down my cheeks as I stand horrified and disgusted as. Fear runs through my veins as as people try to save him. I close my eyes and pray it’s a dream, but when I open my eyes, I’m faced with reality. A metallic scent is coming off him. I feel vomit starting to come out of my throat as I walk closer. All around the altar is pool of dark red liquid slowly spreading. I clench my fist in anger so hard knuckles are turning white. I turn away from the sight in front of me and look around. Many people are still in shock and some have fainted. As I walk away from the altar i notice my white dress is stained with blood.
Many are praying that he may survive but I know it is too late.
My eyes burned as I tried to hold back the tears that were coming out. I looked at the man who gave me hope and courage to stand up against the Government, now it’s gone.
“No he’s gone!” I hear a voice at the back of the altar.
I try to stay calm and be emotionless but the cause of loss pains me. Despair, sadness and anger are written all over the faces I am familiar with. I clutch on my white satin dress as I am faced to the cross. I hear sobbing and whimpering at the back of me. Sitting down on the stairs near the altar and look blankly at the white ceiling. Time seems to have frozen as I yell out in sadness to the cross
“WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM AWAY!” “HE WAS OUR ONLY HOPE NOW HE IS GONE!”
“Why are you so angry?” a voice with a hint of sadness in it says from behind me. I look around and am faced with a man who looked in his early fifties.
I say to him “I am angry because I am faced with the cruel reality that seems to only have despair and darkness in it.”
He looks at me and says “Can you hear yourself? You sound like the world has ended. Oscar wouldn’t have wanted this! Have faith and stay strong!”
I look at him in shock as he starts to walk away.
“May he rest in peace” I whisper hoarsely.

Oscar Romero Report
Oscar Romero was born on August 15th 1917 in Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador. Oscar Romero was a well known Archbishop who fought against political oppression in the history of El Salvador. Oscar Romero also fought against poverty, social injustice, assassinations and torture. He was assassinated on March 24th 1980 for spreading the Christian message to soldiers. If The soldiers converted to believing his message they would no longer be willing to hurt the poor people. The government would then have no one to order. This passion was formed when one of his closest friends Rutilio Grande was brutally murdered as he was going to go visit one of his chapels. That changed Oscar’s life and he began to protest for the poor and spread the word of peace and love around El Salvador .
Oscar Romero showed hope to the poor and spread the word to others by broadcasting on the radio. That made the Government angry because they didn’t want him spreading the word to others so they blew up his radio station. But then CAFOD offered to build it again so people could hear his messages once again. One of the messages were directed to the Christian Soldiers.
Oscar Romero said:
“I'd like to make an appeal in a special way to the men in the army. Brothers, each one of you is one of us. We are the same People. The farmers and peasants that you kill are your own brothers and sisters. When you hear the words of a man telling you to kill, think instead in the words of God, "Thou shalt not kill!" No soldier is obliged to obey an order contrary to the Law of God. In His Name and in the name of our tormented people who have suffered so much, and whose laments cry out to heaven:
I implore you!
I beg you!
I ORDER you!!
STOP THE REPRESSION!!”
Oscar Romero knew he was going to die but still fought for justice and rights until his last day of life. After his death, many people went to his funeral and 40 were killed and injured by the soldiers working for the government. The situation worsened as many people were terrified of losing their lives. Oscar Romero was canonized on May 23rd 2015 by Pope Francis.

Moment in Time
Moment in Time Practice
All I can see is a bunch of strangers blocking the way. I see lots of colourful clothes yelling at me to buy them. I feel tired and stressed as the sun blazes with fury at me.I can only taste my saliva as I thirst for fresh water.My head is pounding from the chatter from strangers and the airless area.The headache gets worse and I feel isolated.I try to calm myself down and smile but the scenarios of me being stuck here consumes me.

Why I chose this book:
I chose this book because I loved the mystery and the unpredictable adventure Jerome went on which I would love to experience and take as a challenge.
What I enjoyed:
I enjoyed how it was terrifying and interesting at the same time.
My Rating and Recommendation:
I rate this book an eight because it was absorbing and scary and I recommend this book for male and female readers aged 10-12 because it might not be suitable for younger children.

The Treaty of Waitangi
The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the 6th February in 1840. The covenant was first signed by Hone Heke who was a powerful chief. Later on many Maori Chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi but they had different reasons to sign the Treaty of Waitangi. Many of them signed it because they thought they were still in control because the European Crown promised them that they would own the fisheries, forests and land, but some of them only cared about the talk between the European Crown and the Maori.
The Pakeha committed a group sin against the Maori by disgracing the Treaty of Waitangi and breaking the promises they made to the Maori. After that group sin, the Maori lost all of their possessions such as fisheries, forests, land and their mana. After they lost all their possessions they had no more control over New Zealand and that is when war dominated New Zealand in 1860.The results of the war lead to a decline in population for the Maori and higher population for the Pakeha. The British Crown decided a settlement was needed between the Maori and the Pakeha. The Governor William Hobson said if they would submit to the Queen then the British would stop attacking them. The Maori had no choice but to submit to the Queen because they had already lost lots of people to diseases and battles. So after that settlement the Maori moved to the South Island where they won’t be bothered by the British Crown.
Christians can restore tika and pono to Te Tiriti O Waitangi by honoring Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Another example to bring tika and pono to Te Tiriti O Waitangi is to follow the conditions and rules of Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
